How to Draw A Pencil
Step 1
Start by drawing a straight vertical line across the paper. This forms the left side of the peg wood. The vertical line length depends on how long you want the pencil.
As you can see in the constitution, the vertical line’s position is off-center and slightly to the left. This ensures that the pen draws in the center.
Step 2
Draw another vertical line parallel to the first one we drew in the previous step. This creates the right side of the pencil.
At this point, both sides of the pencil should be shaped.
Step 3
Draw a short horizontal line at the top connecting the two endpoints of the vertical lines we drew in the previous step.
This forms the tip of the pencil where the eraser is usually placed.
Step 4
Draw a V-shaped line at the bottom of the pen to complete the shape of the pen. This forms the pointed end of the pencil.
After completing this step, the pen shape’s outline is complete.
Step 5
Draw a square shape without the bottom line at the pencil’s tip.
This creates the directly connected eraser on top of the pen. This is part of the pencil that we use to erase mistakes.
Step 6
Draw a short shell line above the V-shaped line we drew earlier in step four.
This creates the separation between the pen body and its pointed tip.
Step 7
Draw a horizontal line under the tip of the pencil. This should create a rectangular shape just below the eraser. Next, draw two thinner lines in the figure.
This creates the ferrule, the metal at the tip of the pencil. The ferrule lengthens your pencil so you can use the entire length of your graphite. The erasers attached directly to the pen are also placed here.
Step 8
Draw two thin vertical lines down the length of the pencil. Ensure the lines align with the sharp edges near the pencil’s tip.
This creates the hexagonal prism shape of the pencil. But there are also pencils with a cylindrical shape. If you prefer a cylindrical pencil shape, skip this step.
Step 9
Draw a thin, short horizontal line just above the tip of the pencil. This creates the strong lead of the pencil to slide across the paper as we draw.
At this point, the pencil drawing is finally complete. Now only a touch of paint remains to make the pencil colorful.
Now that we have successfully drawn a pencil, it’s time to choose the colors and ink the pencil.
Because pencils are made of wood, they are traditionally brown. However, pencils are now available in almost every color. This gives you a wide range of color options when coloring your pencil.
